The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries
Based on nine of Ngaio Marsh's Roderick Alleyn novels, the British crime drama The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries is based on the books' original BBC adaptation. The show aired from 1990 to 1994 on the original airing. Inspector Alleyn, played by Simon Williams in the premiere, was a recurring character. Detective Sergeant Fox was performed by William Simons and included Belinda Lang as Alleyn's love interest, the painter Agatha Troy. Since Williams was unavailable during production of the pilot episode, Patrick Malahide took up the role of the series' protagonist, while original cast members Simons and Lang returned in supporting roles. The BBC produced a total of nine episodes, each of which was adapted from a different book. Eight of Malahide's episodes have been released on DVD in the United States and the United Kingdom. The complete nine-part series is available in Australia.
