The Odyssey
The Odyssey is an American fantasy-adventure television miniseries from 1997 that won an Emmy Award and was nominated for a Golden Globe. The miniseries was directed by Andrei Konchalovsky and aired on NBC in two parts starting on May 18, 1997. Later, the series won the award for "Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries or a Special." The series is based on the ancient Greek epic poem The Odyssey, which is usually credited to Homer. It was filmed in Malta, Turkey, and many other places around the Mediterranean, where the story takes place, as well as in parts of England. Some of the international stars in the cast are Armand Assante, Greta Scacchi, Irene Pappas, Isabella Rossellini, Bernadette Peters, Christopher Lee, and Vanessa L. Williams.
