The Six Million Dollar Man
The Six Million Dollar Man is a popular American television series that tells the story of a former astronaut with bionic implants who now works for a made-up government agency called OSI. The novel Cyborg by Martin Caidin serves as the inspiration for the television show, which was originally going to be titled something else during the pre-production phase. Following the airing of three television movies in1973, The Six Million Dollar Man debuted as a regular series on the ABC network and ran for a total of five seasons, beginning in 1974 and ending in 1978. Lee Majors, who played Lee Majors in the title role of Steve Austin and went on to become a pop cultural phenomenon of the 1970s, played Steve Austin. A spin-off series called "The Bionic Woman" ran from 1976 to 1978 on ABC. Between the years 1987 and1994, a number of television movies featuring both of the series' namesake characters were also produced.
