The Untouchables
The Untouchables is a 1959–1963 American crime drama that aired on ABC. Based on the biography of the same name by Eliot Ness and Oscar Fraley, it recreated Ness' experiences as a Prohibition agent, combating crime in Chicago in the 1930s with the support of a special team of agents recruited for their daring and incorruptibility, dubbed the Untouchables. Brian De Palma adapted the book into a film in 1987, with a storyline by David Mamet, and a second, less successful TV series in 1993. The Untouchables was a strong, hard-hitting crime drama that earned series actor Robert Stack an Emmy Award for Best Actor in a Dramatic Series in 1960.
