Tin Man
Tin Man is a three-part miniseries from RHI Entertainment and Sci Fi Channel Original Pictures that aired on the Sci Fi Channel in the United States in 2007 for a total of four and a half hours of programming. It premiered on December 2, with the final two parts broadcast the next night. Released on DVD March 11, 2008; rerun in the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand in the same year. Based on the famous fable The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the miniseries stars Zooey Deschanel, Neal McDonough; Alan Cumming; Raoul Trujillo; Kathleen Robertson; and Richard Dreyfuss. Is a story of a small-town waitress who is drawn into a mythical region called the Oz, where Azkadellia, the sorceress in charge, rules with an iron fist. Together with her friends Glitch, Raw, and Cain, DG goes on a journey to recover her lost memories, find her real parents, and stop Azkadellia's plan to trap the O.Z. in eternal darkness. It cost $20 million to make the first half of the miniseries, which attracted 6.4 million viewers, making it the highest-rated program in its time slot. Nominations for a Critics' Choice Award and nine Emmy Awards were made; it won only one. Many critics praised its acting, soundtrack and visual effects while some found it too gloomy for their tastes.
