Phoenix Nights
Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights is a British comedy show about a working men's club called The Phoenix Club in the town of Farnworth, Greater Manchester, in the north of England. Neil Fitzmaurice, Peter Kay, and Dave Spikey wrote the show. It was made by Goodnight Vienna Productions and Ovation Entertainments, and Channel 4 in the UK showed it. Toni Baker and Peter Kay wrote all of the music. Paddy McGuinness gave some extra information. There have been two series made, and they were first shown in 2001 and 2002. The show is a spin-off of the spoof documentary series That Peter Kay Thing, which in turn led to the spin-off Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere. At the British Comedy Awards in 2002, it won the People's Choice Award and was nominated for several others. Kay also plays more than one role in the show and directed the second season. Kay said on BBC Radio 1 in September 2006 that a third season of Phoenix Nights had been written, but no one knows when it will be filmed. On May8,2007, Kay made another announcement saying that another series will be made. In interviews with The Sentinel and the Croydon Guardian in late2009, Dave Spikey said that neither he nor Neil Fitzmaurice knew of any plans to bring the show back.
